CoverMade™ Can Help Your Relationship?

Posted April 10th, 2016 by Covermade

innovation-slide3Relationship help from a comforter?

Surely I jest.

Covermade™ stay put comforters can save you doling out, or getting grief from, your partner. We all know that being in a stable long-term relationship is good for our health. We all benefit from having a steady partner. A part of having a partner is sleeping in the same bed at night.

There can be some speed bumps in this part of the relationship.

Snoring

  • Sleeping next to a snoring partner, whether they are male or female, can be a disruption to our normal sleep patterns.
  • Valuing their presence, and loving them won’t help you sleep if they sound like a lumber yard.
  • Try some ear plugs and suggest they get checked for sleep apnea.

Temperature Differences

  • Some of us love to sleep in a cold room, to better stack the warm, heavy blankets upon us for maximum coziness.
  • Others like to sleep in a warm room with one leg out of the sheet since even that makes us feel shut in.
  • Couples need to compromise and adjust blankets, and pajama choices to get along on this one.

Stealing Blankets

  • “It wasn’t me, it was you!”
  • “I don’t mean to steal the blankets – I’m asleep!”
  • “The blankets are on my side because you got hot and threw them over here!”
  • If you’ve heard, or uttered, any of these phrases, chances are you either are or live with a blanket stealer.
  • This really is a hard thing to control since the person doing the stealing really is asleep, and so not consciously choosing to steal the blankets.
  • Try the Covermade™ comforter. It’s designed to stay in place all night long, foiling blanket stealers.
  • Stopping the stealing may lead to fewer blanket entanglement (pun intended).

Covermade® is Making News!

Posted April 3rd, 2016 by Covermade

The great product from Covermade® was recently featured on a segment of Made Local / Stay Local Fox 28 / ABC 6 in Columbus! We are proud of the outstanding local support we’ve received and hope you enjoy your stay put bedding as much as we do.

The story behind Covermade® is the story of Natalie Monaco’s perseverance to come up with a ‘better mousetrap”. In this case, the elusive mouse is something that would help her make the bed quickly and easily and help keep the covers in place during the night. Anyone who has a partner who is notorious for stealing the blankets will sympathize with her quest. Or, well, maybe we are the ones who are always stealing them though we claim self-defense in doing so.

She first looked online for a product that would facilitate bedmaking as well as keep the bedcovers in place. She found nothing so was driven to come up with something. Her ingenuity eventually leads to Covermade bedding. The secret is a hidden, well-attached wide elastic band that slips easily under the foot of the mattress. It keeps the duvet cover/comforter in place all night. Because it is adjustable elastic holding it in place you don’t have to worry about the foot of the blankets being too tight over your feet. And, since the foot of the bed stays in place you can simply pull the top of the bed covers up.

Covermade was also featured in Good Housekeeping magazine. Watch the clip below to see more!

Tips for the Perfectly Made Bed

Posted March 27th, 2016 by Covermade

It’s that time of year: spring cleaning time! We have some housekeeping ideas that will keep you busy as the leaves finally pop back out on the trees. Our fascination with tidy homes and great organization starts with our beds!

Covermade® Stay-Put Comforters and Duvet Covers

  • Made with a wide elastic band sewn to the underside, Covermade comforters stay in place and keep the sheets beneath the comforter in place too. Since the bottom of the bed stays made all night, simply pulling up the top of the comforter is all that is needed to make your bed with Covermade.
  • This great product has the added benefit of holding the comforter in place during the night so you won’t be fighting with your partner about who stole the blankets from who – and you won’t have to totally remake your bed every morning!

Make the Pillows a Feature

  • There are several ways to make your bed looks spiffy and a few of these focus on the pillows.
  • Mix and matching the pillowcases to add some texture and bright colors to your bedding.
  • Use your beloved body pillow to spice up the look of your bed. Get a body pillowcase that coordinates with the rest but makes it stand out.

Starting your day off with what can be a tedious chore has its rewards. The reward comes when you head back to bed at night to find that your bed is made, looks tidy and inviting, as though some bedmaking elves paid you visit. If your bed looks neat and tidy can make your whole room look neater. It has been said that this simple task can make you feel happier.  Interesting how something as simple as making your bed can add to your overall happiness in life. Turn Over a New Leaf with Covermade Stay-put Comforter

Posted January 6th, 2016 by Covermade

I used to use mental tricks to keep from losing my sanity when confronted with the mess my kids would leave in their wake. My toddler’s idea of playing with toys was to dump out a bin and see how far he could throw each one! Sure, I tried to make a game of putting them back, but sometimes I just didn’t have the energy.

I try to imagine the mess as a natural tide of life, the toys flow into high tide and then the tide turns, and I manage to keep it clean for a few days, or a whole week. Inevitably, sometimes I just can’t keep up with the tide!

This was before I resolved to keep the house in at least some semblance of order. I have turned over a new leaf! I now keep most of the toys in bins out of my toddlers clutches until I give them to him. A new bin isn’t brought out until the last bin has been refilled. It was easier to teach him the new rule that for me to to implement it. Once we both got a hang of it, life was so much easier!

Once I got the living room in order I got to turn my attention to me, for once. I started making my bed every day, I was so proud. I don’t care if my husband thinks I’m cheating by using a stay-put comforter from Covermade! It keeps everything in place all night. All I have to do is pull up the top of the comforter and the bed is made! It’s so easy, I now make my bed every day and I haven’t done that since my mother made me do it. I get to walk out of my tidy bedroom into a tidy living room to play with my young athletic artist – with a spring in my step!

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Posted January 3rd, 2016 by Covermade

Covermade is the home of Covermade Comforter sets and duvet covers that solve an age old problem. Our comforters and duvet covers are designed to hold your warm outer layer in place through the night, helping both you and your partner stay warm despite the best attempts of a slumbering blanket thief!  Not only do our comforters stay put through the night, they also make bed making in the morning a snap.

One topic we are sure to cover in our Covermade blog is helpful household tips. One we love to share with people is how to fold fitted sheets from a standing position, so that’s the one we’ll begin with! A fitted sheet is the sheet that goes directly on the bed, with elastic on the corners. When held up it is a rectangle with rounded corners. Your goal is have all of the corners stacking inside each other.

First put your hands into corners with the the seams on the outside.

Take your right hand and flip the the right corner onto the left corner so that it covers it.

The key here is to NOT take your hand out of the corners.

Run your free (left) hand down the elastic to the lower corner.

Flip the lower corner onto the two stacked corners in your right hand.

Then grab the final corner and flip it onto the three corners.

Shake the sheet out to straighten out any folds that have occurred

At this point, lay the sheet out and you should have a square with one big rounded corner.

Fold the rounded edge in first and then fold the remaining sheet onto that edge.

Folding it into thirds, depending on the size of the sheet of course, can make a nice, tidy folded fitted sheet to keep your linen closet at tidy as your bed, once it is made with a stay-put Covermade Comforter!

Keeping a House with Kids Tidy

Posted January 2nd, 2016 by Covermade

“Cleaning the house when the kids are still growing is like shoveling snow when it’s still snowing.” ~ Phyllis Diller

That funny quote is how we parents feel sometimes, but we all know that the cleaning and organizing must go on. We all have to come up with our own systems to keeping order, if not a full-time state of our homes, it’s a goal. We’re going to be writing a blog series on ideas to help motivate and inspire you in your endless efforts to keep your busy and happy home, clean and tidy.

Prioritize

  • Every household has its own priorities, in mine, it has always been food and clothes. Some days (ok weeks), as long as everyone has clean clothes in their drawers and there is the food in cupboards, I feel a sense of victory.
  • Find what makes you feel like you are wrestling control of your home back from the chaos of having children. For some, it may be making sure the shoes are properly corralled near the front door, for others it may be keeping the kitchen sink clean and shiny.
  • For me, it’s the bed. I admit it’s a bit of an obsession. Before I used CoverMade’s stay put comforter, I would get up and remake the bed- yes, even in the middle of the night when my snoring partner had cocoon himself in my half of the comforter. No more, with the stay-put comforter he turns but my half stays on my half and I stay asleep and I sleep all the way through the night.

Check back for the next blog for tips, and hopefully the solace of knowing you are not alone in trying to keep your house clean while the kids are growing.

Tips to Speed Up Your Morning Routine 2/2

Posted December 31st, 2015 by Covermade

At Covermade, we know that you love the feeling you get at the end of the day when you walk into your room and the clutter is at low tide, and your bed is neat and made, just waiting for you to curl up with your current book and have some cozy time before you fall asleep, exhausted from the day. In our last blog, we started a list of tips to help you make your morning routine smooth and efficient, and below we’ll continue with some great tips!
Prep Lunches
Take some time on Sunday to double check that you have supplies for school lunches for the whole week. Have them separated by category in the pantry/refrigerator so that the kids know where to go and can simply pick one item out of each section and have their lunches all ready to eat. Have a section for fruits and veggies. You can even have mini storage containers all set with a bit of ranch dressing in them to take along with a pre-packed snack baggie of baby carrots. Add a freshly made sandwich to the mix, and the kids can have a healthy lunch.
Take Short Cuts
One great shortcut to take in your morning is to have bedding designed to make your morning bed making routine a breeze. Covermade offers easy to make, stay put comforters. They not only stay in place through the night keeping you comfortable, but also make making the bed is easier than ever before. Covermade bedding is designed so that when you wake up the entire bottom half of the bed is made; all you have to do is pull up on the top of the covers! No more sheets or covers on the floor, and no more heaping mess of covers. With Covermade’s patented easy bed making design, you simply pull up your sheets and comforter, and everything is in place. You’ll love the feeling at the end of the day of coming to a bed that looks like room service was there. If you do it first thing when you roll out of bed you might not even remember doing it yourself, and you may be surprised when you finally make it back to your nest after a long day!

Tips to Speed Up Your Morning Routine 1/2

Posted December 29th, 2015 by Covermade

Tips to Speed Up Your Morning Routine - CovermadeLife is so busy these days. Between the picture-perfect moments of kids melting down while you are trying to get them ready for another day at school or the dog getting sick as you try to finally get out the door, it seems like every second counts and there are none to spare. How on earth are you to be expected to make your bed in the morning? We’ve come up with a list of tips to help you get through your morning so that when you come home after a hard day, your house will welcome you instead of assaulting your eyes with dirty dishes and an unmade bed.

Shine your sink
It may seem like a small thing, but if you leave the house with a shiny sink it also means that you’ve cleaned out your sink, hopefully not just piling the backed up dishes on the counter. If you keep the area around your sink tidy, the tidy will spread.
Get help making your bed
Covermade comforters and duvet covers are a great way to make your bed quickly and easily. Not only do these bedding sets stay put throughout the night and put an end to cover stealing, they can be made easily in the morning. If you do this as soon as you roll out of bed, you’ll have a great success before you have your first cup of coffee! Score!
Schedule in some free time for the kids
Another quick tip is to get the kids on a set schedule of getting up and ready. Build in enough time for them to have either a before-school play time outside or time to watch a few minutes of their favorite show – but only after they’ve done their chores of getting their lunched together, hair and teeth brushed, backpacks packed and beds made.
Check back for the next blog which will continue this handy list. In the meantime, shop for your easy to make bed duvet cover sets at Covermade!
